What driver was used to win the 1961 US Amateur?
MacGregor Tommy Armour SS1W used by Jack Nicklaus from 1960 to 1966. Fifty years ago, MacGregor drivers were carved from blocks of "oil-hardened" persimmon wood. The SS1W has a medium-deep face, black leather Firma-Grip and light-brown head (Nicklaus's refurbished club is black). Nicklaus broke the face insert nine times in 1961 and cracked the neck in a 1966 "Challenge of the Champions" match with Gary Player.

Name the first international golfer to win a Masters?
Trailing Arnold Palmer by a shot going to the 18th hole, Player got up-and-down from a greenside bunker -- Palmer, on the other hand, made a double-bogey from his greenside bunker. That exchange gave Gary Player the win by a shot at the 1961 Masters, and made the South African the first international golfer to win the Masters. In his final Masters appearance as an amateur, Jack Nicklaus finished tied for seventh.

Who won the LPGA Palm Beach Par-3 Invitational in 1961?
The Royal Poinciana Invitational was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour in 1961 and 1962. It was played at Palm Beach Golf Club in Florida. The course was a par-3 course. In 1961 tournament was 54 holes, co-ed event in which all competitors play from the same tees. The field consisted of 24 men and women, both amateurs and professionals. Among the men in the field is Sam Snead. The tournament was won by Louise Suggs by one stroke over local pro Dub Pagan.

Who won his last Canadian PGA Championship in 1961?
Stan Leonard won the Canadian PGA Championship eight times from 1940–1961, and this is a record. He was the low Canadian in the Canadian Open nine times from 1945–1961. Part of his powerful swing could be attributed to his massive forearms. The other players noticed this physical feature and gave him the nickname Popeye. He won a total of six significant amateur and 40 professional tournaments in Canada over the course of his career – second only to Moe Norman in Canadian golf history.

Jacky Cupit played on the PGA Tour from 1961–1973 and had four victories during that phase of his career. His first win came at the 1961 Canadian Open. He won the PGA's Rookie of the Year award in 1961. His last win came in 1966 at the Cajun Classic. Cupit's best finish in a major was runner-up at the 1963 U.S. Open, when he and Arnold Palmer lost to Julius Boros in a three-way playoff.
